Welcome
On the 29th September 2014 the Jessep line will have been in Australia and New Zealand for 160 years. That is something to celebrate. I am compiling the story of our family’s arrival and struggle Down Under and invite you to join the journey. You can contribute if you like or just read and enjoy our diverse history. The choice is yours.
The first few chapters describe where two brothers, Thomas and James, lived and how and why they packed up their families, bid goodbye forever to the friends and family, and set their sights on a new life on the others side of the world.
Once they arrived in Hobart Town, the children diverged as they married and had families of their own. The stories from here will be based on those family members. This is where I hope everyone will get involved and provide their stories, as passed down from parent to sibling. We owe it to ourselves to celebrate the good fortune that Thomas and James made that tough decision and gave us the Jessep line Down Under.
Layout
Stories for each line will be posted with the first name linage, starting from the brothers as the title. For example the story for my Grandfather will be titled; Thomas: James: Alfred James: Alfred Donald Looking at the title we know that my grandfather, Alfred Donald, is a descendant of Thomas.
This means that stories can be added working backwards just as we should research. Please write the story based on that Individual and only their children. As the stories grow I will add links to parents and children so moving up and down family lines is easy.
Rules
Unfortunately I have to set some guides and explain some housekeeping:
Comments must be moderated to stop any spam or other unrelated / inappropriate text. No Living persons details will be displayed. Email addresses will not be shown on the site.
If you provide a story for a family line you will be noted as the Author however I will make adjustments so it will work on the Blog. If we get two stories of the same line then the second will be posted as a comment.
Finally if you are interested in attending a family reunion then please send me a message.
I hope you enjoy reading and get involved recording our history.
